Bayelsa International Film Festival - BIFF is established with aim to engage filmmakers, artists, performers, academics and members of the creative community to unravel the delicacies of diversities and locate common grounds across cultures and societies.. To provide an exciting, educative, and information oriented Film Festival.
BIFF is designed to be an intimate and eloquent filmmaker festival where film enthusiasts can get first hand insights from directors, writers, actors and producers from the premiering films. With commitment, BIFF will be presenting an annual film festival and art exhibition to provide both professional and amateur filmmakers with a space for display and dissemination of their works. At the same time, a strong focus on the BIFF as a place for the world to discover recent talents in African films and filmmakers. The event also offers master classes, panel discussion and workshop to augment this diverse programming.

To provide an exciting, educative, and information-oriented film festival. These efforts would be directed to establishing a dedicated Bayelsa International Film Festival as a centre of excellence for skill development and continuous education of aspirants, amateurs and professionals associated with media and film industry.
OUR VISION
To become a world renowned state international film festival that celebrates African film makers and promote our African cultural heritage through film.
AIM/OBJECTIVE
- To host an annual International Film Festival and art exhibitions, creating a space for filmmakers to display their art works.
- To use this avenue to create jobs for the youths.
- To organize skill development workshops and courses for young filmmakers and artists in Bayelsa State.
- To see seasoned artists and producers finding Bayelsa State to be a home to produce quality and world class movies
- To facilitate the process of peer-learning and social interaction between and within filmmakers nationally and internationally.
- Design, organize and conduct inter-cultural exposure visits of filmmakers, artists, and performers for a better understanding of each other and share ideas to increase business ties in the continent of Africa.
- To promote and project hidden talents in the field of film making.
- To promote the art of film making by awarding and honouring our African filmmakers.
- To use this medium to attract tourists to the Bayelsa State.

Celebrating our cultural heritage through film
Bayelsa International Film Festival (BIFF) was created to serve as a global platform where Bayelsa movie makers, directors, film producers, story tellers, actors, actresses and movie enthusiasts can meet and connect with their foreign counterparts as well as have their stories seen, heard and understood through the eyes of the camera. We are Bayelsans who believe in Bayelsa and the greater Bayelsa dream, we want our stories to be heard in the international community, we want to rewrite the narrative and give the world an unadulterated view of Bayelsa state and what better way to do this than the Bayelsa International Film Festival. This is the glory of all lands and it is time we exposed the world to our glory. We are blessed with tributaries, creeks, lakes, rivers, mangroves, and an ocean which supports vast aquatic life. We have historical sites such as the light house in Akassa, the Akassa slave transit camp and tunnel, the white men grave at Twon Brass as well as other sites worthy of note which are sadly not ever publicized or advertised which can serve as good filming locations for both local and international filmmakers to tell our stories thereby creating jobs for the residents (Bayelsans) as well as boosting the economy.
We have stories that will never be told by anyone else but us. It is with this fore thought that the Bayelsa International Film Festival (BIFF) was born. Bayelsa International Film Festival is a film festival that celebrates Bayelsa state, its people, their cultures, festivals, and heritage. Film has always been a means of self-expression as well as an educational tool not forgetting the entertainment it provides. We want to encourage youth empowerment through film making, we want our youths to express themselves and their thoughts through film and not violence. Through scripts and not swords, through words and not weapons.
